Theme Settings (Input Types)

Theme and section settings are defined as JSON in config/settings_schema.json and in each section's {% schema %}. Merchants edit them in the theme editor; you read them with settings.id or section.settings.id.

Text field

Single-line text input.

Multiline text field

Use the textarea type, or richtext when merchants need formatting.

Select menus

A dropdown of fixed options. Use radio for a small number of visible choices.

Checkboxes

A true/false toggle.

File uploads → image_picker and video

Legacy

The old settings.html file-upload inputs were replaced by resource settings such as image_picker, video and video_url.

CSS / specialty settings → color, font_picker, range

The old CSS-class-based inputs were replaced by typed settings: color, color_scheme, font_picker, range and more.
